BrightSpathlight | July 2025 Edition Apalit, Pampanga | Student in Australia | Future Hospitality Leader

Taken while on a cruise ferry at Circular Quay — credits to Sarah Silvestre 🌊🛥️✨

A Culinary Vision with Global Flavor

This month’s BrightSpathlight shines on Sarah Joy B. Silvestre, a passionate Filipina from Apalit, Pampanga, whose journey blends ambition, skill, and deep family values. From a classroom in Bulacan to culinary training in Australia, Sarah’s story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to pursue growth — especially when it’s anchored in purpose.

On July 21, 2023, Sarah’s Australian student visa was granted with the help of BrightPath Visa Consultancy, marking the beginning of her international academic journey. She is currently completing her Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma of Hospitality Management at Canberra College of Management and Technology (CCMT), located at Level 5, 162 Goulburn St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010. Her sights are set on completing the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management — her personal “icing on the cake.”

Where She Is Now: A Slice of Life in Australia

Currently, Sarah is working at Compass Group Australia as a Catering Assistant at the Uniting Thomas Bowden Retirement Village in 279 Morrison Road, Ryde, NSW 2112. From preparing meals to serving with a smile, she finds joy in combining her skills with purpose — bringing comfort and nourishment to the elderly community she serves daily.

Academic Foundations & Global Pursuits

Sarah is a proud alumna of Bulacan State University in Malolos, where she earned her Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Foods. Her academic journey was defined by dedication and performance — earning CHED recognition for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 2013 and maintaining a solid GWA of 85.

These foundations would soon lead her into the food industry — and eventually, into the world of international education. Her academic and technical background gave her a clear edge, but her heart for service is what truly sets her apart.

Family First, Family Fuel

Behind every milestone is a powerful support system. For Sarah, that means her close-knit family and their shared dreams.

“I am immensely grateful for my family, especially my brother Laurence, who not only runs our family business but also supports the entire process I need to take for me to be able to be here.”

Sarah’s journey isn’t just about personal success — it’s about building something greater for the people who’ve always believed in her. With her family’s encouragement and the support of her faith community, Sarah is making every moment of her international journey count.

From R&D Specialist to Culinary Visionary

Before her student life in Australia, Sarah held multiple leadership roles at Bounty Fresh Food Inc., one of the country’s top poultry brands. She rose from R&D Kitchen Specialist to Process Improvement Supervisor, overseeing three major processing plants in Central Luzon.

Her work combined food science, operational management, and innovation — but on weekends, she embraced a different role: culinary creative and hands-on chef for their family business.

Silvestre’s Events: Where Passion Meets Purpose

Launched in December 2019, Silvestre’s Events and Exquisite Style began as a small catering and event styling service. Today, it’s a growing local brand trusted by clients in Pampanga, Bulacan, and Manila.

Sarah plays an active role in everything from menu planning, food preparation, costing, to inventory management. Her dream? To transform Silvestre into a chain of resto-cafés that offer both great food and heartfelt service.

“Everything I’m learning here — from kitchen systems to hospitality standards — is an investment in our business back home.”

Why Australia? Why Now?

Sarah chose Australia because of its world-class education, vibrant culinary scene, and multicultural environment — ideal for anyone looking to grow in global hospitality.

Her chosen school, CCMT, is known for its industry-relevant curriculum, access to practical kitchen training, and nurturing support for international students. Today, she’s not just learning — she’s also forming lasting friendships, expanding her horizons, and growing every day.

Future Plans: A Businesswoman with a Mission

With her Advanced Diploma on the horizon, Sarah is already preparing her next chapter: bringing global knowledge back to local soil.

She plans to:
✅ Expand Silvestre into a chain of themed resto-cafés
✅ Introduce global flavors and best practices in hospitality
✅ Build a dog-friendly café as a nod to her passion project, Paw Chichay PH
✅ Train and hire local talent to support community development

“BrightPath gave me the confidence and support I needed to begin again — not from scratch, but from experience.”

A Bright Future Ahead

Sarah’s story reflects what we at BrightPath Visa Consultancy believe in: transforming lives through education, with a heart for purpose and a mind for possibility.

From Pampanga to Sydney, from family kitchens to professional culinary spaces — Sarah Joy Silvestre is just getting started.

Brightspathlight | June Edition Celebrating Growth, Grit, and Global Dreams

Photo during the orientation at Tred College. Credits to Angelica Vecinal

A Proud Batangueña with a Heart for Service
This June—a month symbolizing renewal and new beginnings—we shine the spotlight on Angelica Capacia Vecinal, a determined young woman from Batangas, Philippines, whose unwavering passion for service carried her across continents, from Psychology studies in the Philippines to pursuing Nursing in Australia.

Academic Roots in the Philippines
Angelica is a proud alumna of De La Salle University - Dasmariñas, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Just as she was preparing for her psychometrician licensure exam, the world came to a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of pressing pause, she leaned into action. Under the leadership of Barangay Chairman Arnel S. Hernandez, she volunteered as a frontliner, serving her community and sharpening her skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and project coordination.

The First Step: Community Services in Australia
In 2022, at just 23 years old, Angelica embarked on a life-changing journey abroad. She enrolled in Community Services at Reach Community College in Haymarket, NSW, where she began to deepen her commitment to health and community care in a global context.

A Career Pivot Toward Nursing
After completing her course, Angelica found herself at a crossroads. Driven by a longstanding interest in healthcare and mental health, she reached out to BrightPath Visa Consultancy (BrightPathVC) to explore the possibility of pursuing a Diploma of Nursing in Australia. With her Psychology background and experience as a community support worker, the transition made perfect sense—and we fully supported her next step.

A Race Against Time – Quick, Smart Action
With her visa nearing expiration on December 4, 2024, timing was everything. Here’s how her transition unfolded:

  • November 28 – Angelica submitted her student visa application through BrightPathVC

  • November 29 – She was officially enrolled at TRED College for the March 2025 intake

  • December 3 – Just one day before her visa expired, BrightPathVC lodged her new student visa

  • February 26, 2025 – Her new visa was granted

A seamless, timely process—powered by precision and trust.

TRED College – Nurturing Future Healthcare Professionals
Angelica is now studying at TRED College in North Sydney, NSW. Founded in 2009, TRED is recognized for its excellence in vocational and higher education. With campuses across Canberra, Adelaide, and Launceston, the college offers in-demand programs in:

  • Healthcare

  • Aged Care

  • Childcare

  • Commercial Cookery

  • General English

  • Applied Blockchain
    …and more.

Gaining Experience as a Disability Support Worker
Outside of school, Angelica applies her learning hands-on as a part-time Disability Support Worker at the Estia Foundation of Australia. This role not only enriches her practical experience but also deepens her advocacy for mental health and patient care.

Looking Ahead: From Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse
Her Diploma of Nursing runs from March 3, 2025, to February 26, 2027. Upon completion, she’ll be eligible for registration with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse. Her long-term dream? To become a Registered Nurse, specializing in Mental Health Nursing, where she can merge her Psychology roots with her passion for healing.

But the journey hasn’t been without its struggles.

Angelica often reflects on what life might’ve been like had she not taken the bold leap into international education.
Mahirap ang buhay sa Australia, lalo na bata ka pa nag-umpisa,” she shares.
Wala kang masyadong magawa kasi minsan hesitant ka—should I do this? Should I do that? Minsan nakakatakot.
Still, she found that confidence was the key:
You just need to have that level of confidence para makipagsabayan ka sa mga mas nakakatanda sayo, or mas may alam. Parang with what I experience, I can do everything.

A Message of Hope and Resilience
Angelica Capacia Vecinal exemplifies what it means to embrace uncertainty with courage. Her journey encourages aspiring students everywhere to believe in their potential, push beyond borders, and trust the process—even when it’s unclear.

From the province of Batangas to the bustling streets of North Sydney, from Psychology to Nursing, Angelica’s story is proof that dreams delayed are not dreams denied.

Congratulations, Angelica. Your BrightPath family is proud to walk this path with you.

BrightSpathlight | May Feature: The Journey of Karl Jason Ramos Domingo

From Quezon City to Sydney, Australia Karl Jason Ramos Domingo has embarked on a life-changing journey filled with perseverance, growth, and love. Married to Francesca Mae Adrales, Karl’s path mirrors that of many Filipino student visa holders—marked by ambition, support from loved ones, and an unwavering drive to succeed in a new land.

The Plan: Coming to Australia First

Just like our April feature, Karl came to Australia first, paving the way for his wife Francesca to follow. Before reaching this milestone, Karl explored multiple industries in search of purpose and direction. From hospitality and the medical field to entrepreneurship and business, each experience helped him grow and adapt.

However, it was hospitality—his first love—that continued to call him back.

Culinary Roots and Pandemic Pivot

Karl’s culinary journey began at the University of the East, Manila, where he took up Technical Vocational – Cookery. He went on to work as Commis III at Armada Hotel in Malate. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic brought the hospitality sector to a standstill in 2020, and Karl had to make the difficult decision to pivot careers.

He transitioned into the medical field and briefly worked as a Medical Attendant at Domingo-Tan Clinic in Quezon City. Not long after, he explored entrepreneurship by starting a Takoyaki business with branches in Quezon City and Bulacan.

The BrightPath Begins

After receiving Karl’s documents on August 16, 2023, the BrightPath team acted swiftly. He was enrolled at Silverline College for Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Located at Suite 701, Level 7, 280 Pitt Street, Sydney, Silverline College offers various programs in Accounting, IT, Business, and Leadership & Management. Karl received his Certificate of Enrollment on September 11, 2023, a day after his conditional offer was released.

Due to the rapidly evolving Department of Home Affairs (DHA) policies—particularly the new English requirements for Philippine student visa applicants—Karl’s application had to be lodged urgently by September 20, 2023, while still ensuring all documentation was complete and accurate.

Deferred but Not Defeated

As immigration processing delays mounted, Karl had to defer his intake to January 2024. But giving up was never an option. With his support network—his aunt, cousin, mother-in-law, and most especially, his wife Francesca—he remained hopeful.

On November 10, 2023, the long-awaited student visa grant finally arrived! It was a day of celebration for both Karl and the BrightPathVC team. With his intake set for January, Karl and Francesca decided to tie the knot officially on November 15, 2023, solidifying their partnership both emotionally and legally.

💍 Francesca's Turn: A Race Against Time

Determined not to be left behind, Francesca immediately prepared her visa application. Our team meticulously compiled her documents—up to the 60-file limit on the ImmiAccount template—and lodged her subsequent entrant visa on December 1, 2023.

As Karl departed for Australia on January 2, 2024, he arrived safely in New South Wales, visited his school the very next day, and quickly adapted to his new environment. He even shared his orientation photos and stories with us—moments that made the whole process feel truly rewarding.

A Double Celebration

After months of waiting, Francesca’s visa was finally granted on May 29, 2024—a date that coincided with BrightPath’s Anniversary, making the moment even more meaningful. The reunion was emotional, and the journey, though challenging, was truly worth it.

Where Are They Now?

Karl is now pursuing his Diploma of Hospitality Management while working part-time at Catering Project Randwick as a Commis Chef. Francesca, is also now working at Sydney Princess Cruises as an Admin Staff Company. They continue to stay in touch with BrightPath, receiving the same committed support we've given since day one.

Be the Next Success Story

Karl and Francesca's story is a shining example of resilience, determination, and love. Do you dream of studying and building a life in Australia with your loved ones by your side?

Let BrightPath Visa Consultancy guide you, just like we did for Karl and Francesca.

From JohnnyBae to Journey Abroad: John Kenneth Sulit’s Leap from Business to Student Life

Written by: Rizi Valerie Tayao

This April, we’re proud to feature one of our remarkable students, John Kenneth Sulit, whose journey reminds us that it’s never too late to chase new dreams—especially when fueled by love, passion, and purpose.

Kenneth is a devoted husband to Aileen and a loving father to Keileen and Klea. Born in Baliuag, Bulacan and currently residing in Candaba, Pampanga, his path has taken several turns—from working overseas to becoming a food entrepreneur, and now, an international student in Australia.

The Early Grind

After earning his Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Kenneth explored various jobs across industries. Eventually, he found himself working in Taiwan as a machine operator. But when the pandemic hit, he returned to the Philippines to be with his family—and to begin again.

From One Pares Sulit to JohnnyBae

Back home, Kenneth decided to venture into the food business. His first attempt was One Pares Sulit, offering classic Filipino dishes like Pares (beef stew with rice) and Mami (egg noodle soup). Sadly, the business only lasted five months.

But that didn’t stop him.

In early 2021, Kenneth launched JohnnyBae, a fried chicken stand that quickly gained local popularity. He eventually expanded to six locations across Pampanga and Bulacan, proving that with grit and determination, setbacks can be stepping stones.

A New Chapter in Australia

In April 2023, Kenneth and Aileen approached us at BrightPath Visa Consultancy to start a new chapter through education. Kenneth chose to study at the Australian Academy of Hospitality Management (AAHM), enrolling in a 130-week program that included Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Once his Certificate of Enrolment was issued and all requirements were completed, we lodged his student visa application—and on May 2, 2023, it was granted.

Just weeks later, Kenneth boarded a plane to Australia, eager to begin his studies and immerse himself in a new culture.

Reunited in a Foreign Land

By August, Aileen shared with us that the distance was taking a toll on her. She missed her husband deeply. After just two weeks of completing her requirements, we lodged her subsequent entrant visa, and that same month—just like Kenneth—she got her golden ticket.

Now together in Australia, Kenneth and Aileen are thriving.

Life Down Under

Today, Kenneth works part-time as a cook at New College UNSW, preparing meals for 350 to 400 students a day. Aileen works as a Customer Assistant at H2O Laundry Shop in New South Wales. They're living proof that with trust, patience, and commitment, big dreams do come true.

Kenneth hopes to apply for post-study work opportunities after completing his program. With his strong business background and newfound skills in hospitality and kitchen management, he’s in a great position to take JohnnyBae to the next level—perhaps with a fresh twist Down Under.

The Power of Preparation

Throughout the process, Kenneth and Aileen showed us what it means to be ideal applicants. They provided genuine documents, trusted the process, and worked closely with us on a detailed business plan. Their engagement and transparency made all the difference—and ultimately contributed to a smooth and successful visa application.

Courses like the ones Kenneth is taking can offer so much value to future entrepreneurs:

  • Managing inventory and food costs

  • Enhancing menu pricing and kitchen operations

  • Creating a warm and welcoming customer experience

  • Understanding industry best practices and trends

  • Handling customer service and feedback professionally

And most importantly, they boost credibility for both customers and potential investors.

Our Message to You

At BrightPath, we’re incredibly proud of Kenneth—not just for choosing us, but for choosing himself. He took the bold step of turning his passion into a long-term plan. And with Aileen by his side, the journey is even more meaningful.

Do you want to be like Kenneth?
Let us help you get there. Your story might just be our next BrightSpathlight feature.

BrightSpathlight: Celebrating Women’s Strength and Determination

March 2025 Edition | International Women’s Month Special

Leal Maat Cayabyab: A Single Mother’s Journey from Pangasinan to Perth

When we think of inspiring journeys, the story of Leal M. Cayabyab, a native of Bayambang, Pangasinan, and now a dedicated international student in Perth, Australia, stands out as a symbol of hope and perseverance. Her experience embodies the dedication and courage required to pursue dreams, even amidst challenges.

A Leap of Faith: From Hesitation to Taking Action

Leal never imagined she would one day be an international student. As a single mother, she devoted her life to providing for her son. It took nearly three months of encouragement before she finally decided to take the first step. On May 22, 2023, she signed an agreement with BrightPath Visa Consultancy, a decision that would transform her future.

At that time, Australia’s Department of Home Affairs had yet to implement increased visa fees, stricter financial requirements, and mandatory English proficiency tests—policies that have since made applications more complex. Determined and excited, Leal submitted an impressive 60+ documents to demonstrate her genuine temporary entrant status. Her dedication truly amazed us.

We recommended Macallan College in Perth, Western Australia, for her studies. She enrolled in:

✔ Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
✔ Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
✔ Diploma of Hospitality and Management

The total duration of her studies is 104 weeks, and after we lodged her visa on June 15, 2023, she received her approval just one month later—a moment of joy and relief!

Leal was one of our pioneer students, making us incredibly proud. When she arrived in Perth, she eagerly shared her journey with us through photos. One memorable image was taken during her cookery class, where she was skillfully preparing a hearty, aromatic soup, fully immersed in her newfound passion.

Building a New Life in Perth

Currently, Leal works as a shift supervisor at Chicken Treat, a popular fast-food chain under Craveable Brands in Perth. She expresses deep gratitude to her employer, a fellow Filipino, for supporting international students.

“It’s not just a job,” Leal shares. “It’s a community that lifts students like me, helping us find stability in a foreign land.”

Adjusting to life in Perth wasn’t easy. The different curriculum, unfamiliar environment, and cultural shifts initially overwhelmed her.

“It’s been a roller-coaster ride,” she says. “But with the right support system, understanding instructors, and sheer determination, I found my rhythm.”

With her Certificate III and IV already completed, she is now advancing towards her Diploma of Hospitality Management, bringing her closer to her ultimate goals.

Her journey proves that balancing work and studies is challenging but possible when fueled by a clear vision for the future.

Why Perth? A City That Feels Like Home

Leal’s choice of Perth wasn’t random. She saw it as the perfect blend of education, opportunity, and comfort.

“Perth’s charm lies in its balance—it’s not as crowded as other cities, but it has everything a student needs: top schools, accessible transport, and a welcoming community.”

For students like Leal, Perth’s supportive atmosphere and abundant job opportunities make it a great study destination. Beyond academics, the city fosters both personal and professional growth.

A Mother’s Love, A Lifetime of Sacrifice

Leal’s journey is deeply anchored in motherhood. Learning about her visa approval was a bittersweet moment—filled with excitement yet tinged with heartache.

“Leaving my son was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she confesses. “But every sacrifice I make is for him. I want to give him a bright future.”

Being away from her child means missing milestones and cherished moments—a burden many overseas parents carry.

“Every time I see a photo of him smiling, I feel a mix of pride and longing,” she shares.

As a single mother, Leal’s journey reflects the strength of women worldwide who make tough choices for their children’s well-being.

This International Women’s Month, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and sacrifices that define motherhood.

“Motherhood is about making hard decisions,” she reflects. “One day, my son will see all this and understand why I did it—for him.”

Her love for her child fuels her ambition, proving that while the road may be difficult, the rewards are immeasurable.

A Proud “Probinsyana” with Big Dreams

As a proud “probinsyana” from Pangasinan, Leal remains deeply connected to her roots.

“I want to use my education and experience as my greatest weapon,” she declares.

Her long-term goal? To establish a hospitality business in the Philippines, creating jobs and opportunities for others in her community.

She represents the ambition and resilience of those who dream of studying abroad, proving that hard work and dedication lead to success.

BrightPath Visa Consultancy: Your Trusted Partner in Success

Leal is grateful to BrightPath Visa Consultancy for guiding her through the process and making her dreams a reality.

“Thank you, BrightPathVC, for helping shape the person I am today,” she says.

Her story serves as an inspiration for aspiring students, proving that with the right guidance and determination, anything is possible.

BrightsPathlight: Jasmin Manabat’s Journey to Becoming an International Student

A Dream Deferred, But Not Denied

“It was unbelievable,” says Jasmin Manabat, recalling her journey to becoming an international student. Her dream of studying abroad seemed shattered when she received a visa refusal after applying through another agency on September 25, 2023. On March 5, 2024, she was informed that her visa application had been denied.

But Jasmin wasn’t ready to give up. A family friend introduced her to BrightPath Visa Consultancy (BrightPathVC), and her story took a new turn. After a careful assessment of her refusal letter, BrightPathVC identified a crucial issue: her chosen course—Business—was not deemed valuable to her future by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). To improve her chances, the team advised her to shift to a program more aligned with her academic background and work experience.

A Strategic Shift: Choosing the Right Course

Jasmin Manabat hails from Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She completed Senior High School at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School, specializing in Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM). After graduation, she worked in her family's business, gaining hands-on experience in financial management.

Given her background, BrightPathVC recommended that she enroll in a program that would strengthen her skills and enhance her career prospects. With this in mind, she applied for Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping and Diploma of Accounting at the National Polytechnic of Australia, located at Prince Centre, Level 28 Quay Street, Sydney, NSW 2000, which also has a branch in Melbourne.

The Visa Process: A Test of Patience and Determination

The reapplication process required diligence, patience, and a well-prepared set of documents. Jasmin’s student visa was officially lodged in June 2024. Two months later, the DHA requested additional financial documentation, requiring her to demonstrate financial capacity of AUD 38,737.17 for a year of expenses. She also had to submit updated financial statements covering June to August 2024.

BrightPathVC guided Jasmin through the process, ensuring she met all requirements promptly to avoid delays. Thanks to her commitment and proactive compliance, the long wait finally ended with her visa grant in September 2024! It was a nerve-wracking experience, but her persistence—and BrightPathVC’s expertise—paid off.

A Bright Future in Australia

Fast forward to today, and Jasmin is now four months into her studies in Australia. She has also secured a part-time job relevant to her field of study, proving that determination and proper guidance lead to success.

At a young age, she is thriving—submitting assessments on time, attending all her classes, and making the most out of her student experience. We asked Jasmin about her inspiration, and she shared:

“I want to inspire young Filipinos who think they can't achieve their dreams because of fear. I want to tell them to step out of their comfort zones, explore, and believe in their potential. Even if you fail, you always have more chances to try again.”

Be the Next Jasmin!

Jasmin’s story is proof that a visa refusal is not the end—it’s just a challenge to overcome. With the right support, determination, and a well-planned strategy, success is within reach.

Do you dream of becoming an international student like Jasmin?
